Assess the thermal and airflow performance of an industrial workshop to ensure that the ambient ventilation system maintains safe temperatures in occupied areas under all operating scenarios.

Context and objectives
As part of the CIME project, an experimental furnace for recycling radioactive metal waste was installed in an industrial facility. CFD simulations were performed to evaluate airflow and heat transfer within the workshop, considering the furnace, casting areas, and ventilation systems.

- Evaluate airflow and temperature distribution throughout the workshop.
- Verify compliance with temperature limits in occupied zones.
- Validate the performance of the ambient ventilation system.
Our skills
This study was carried out using Fluidyn-VENTCLIM, our high-resolution 3D CFD software dedicated to ventilation, air conditioning, and indoor air quality in confined spaces. The software enabled:
- Airflow simulation within the industrial workshop.
- HVAC and ventilation system performance assessment.
- Heat generation and thermal analysis
- Modeling convection, conduction and radiation heat transfer.
- Evaluation of temperature distribution and thermal comfort in occupied areas.
