Context and objectives

VINCI Environment wanted to qualify the flow patterns in the post-combustion chamber of a boiler exchanger.

The objective was to ensure the good mixture of the smoke at the outlet to avoid recirculation zones, hot spots and high residual time. 

Our skills

​The aeraulics and heat transfers in the afterburner have been modeled in the software Fluidyn-MP.

The 3D-CFD simulation includes :

  • The combustion of unburnt hot gases from the waste pyrolysis,
  • The heat conduction in the walls of the incinerator,
  • The radiation of hot gases
