Dust dispersion from a quarry
Context and objectives
In the frame of the environmental impact assessment (EIA) of its material production quarry located in L’Estaque (Marseille – France), the objectives of the project is:
- Understand and assess the topographic and meteorological context of the site nad the link with the dust emissions (tracks, material handling areas, piles,…);
- Find and simulatesolutions for dust emission reduction : storage movements, creation of merlons to modify flows, water spray best position …
Our success
Fludyn has carried out simulations of the air flows during prevailing strong winds by integrating the topography of the site. The results analysis has given important information on the local ground speeds oin the quarry to evaluate the potential erosion and dust flight (areas to be treated firstly, protected areas …);
