fluidyn-VENTIL is a software family for 3D numerical simulations of flows in buildings, tunnels, mines and in any other confined or semi-confined spaces. fluidyn-VENTIL software can be used for air ventilation flows, or in case of continuous or accidental dispersion:

  • Ventilation flows (including HVAC): Concerns specifically computation of air flows in case of natural and/or forced ventilation systems (HVAC). Air quality can be accurately computed in confined places, buildings, tunnels, mines with fluidyn-VENTIL software family.
     
  • Risk Analysis: Concerns specifically computations of various possible risk impacts, such as hazardous gases dispersion , fire impact, explosion impact. Risk analysis can be accurately computed in confined places, buildings, tunnels, mines, with fluidyn-VENTIL software family.

fluidyn-VENTIL is composed of the following distinct modules, each integrated with the same facilities for geometry, mesh and model set-up for 3D CFD computations:

  • fluidyn-VENTCLIM: Ventilation (comfort) + risk analysis (chronic and accidental) in buildings and confined spaces
  • fluidyn-VENTUNNEL: Ventilation (comfort) + risk analysis (chronic and accidental) in tunnels (rail & road)
  • fluidyn-VENTEX: Dispersion and explosion risk analysis
  • fluidyn-VENFIRE: Fire Propagation in Confined Space
  • fluidyn-VENTMINE: Ventilation (comfort) + risk analysis (chronic and accidental) in mines

 

Salient Features :

fluidyn-VENTIL software is integrated with a user-friendly interface, which is simplified for users to define geometry and mesh, and for model set-up for each applications:

  • Geometry of tunnels, buildings with obstacles (cars, trains, ships, barges, others, ...) and venting conditions
  • General source terms : Hazardous gases for dispersion, fire, evaporation, momentum (steady car motions), pistoning effect (linked to train motions)
  • Fast meshing and adapted to physical problems treated
  • Optimisation of CFD solver parameters for accurate solutions.

 

fluidyn-VENTILsoftware have optimized 3D CFD solutions for ventilation problems (Low-Mach numbers) or coupled physics phenomena solutions such as : High thermal fluxes and buoyancy problems (fire) or fast transient for combustion flows (explosions). These optimized solvers are validated and taken from the fluidyn-MP multiphase numerical platform and can accurately solve:
  • Mean turbulent velocities in any confined room (building, tunnel, mine) by the computation or the pressure-velocity coupling. Takes into account specific and possible transient pressure conditions.
  • Associated thermal flows (buoyancy) and wall heat transfer (convection/conduction/radiation).
  • Turbulence parameters inside the confined domain (turbulent viscosities/diffusivities)
  • Gas mixtures up to 50 species
  • Reactive flows with different types of combustion model
  • Two-phase flows
  • Other specific physical phenomena (spray curtains, deposition,...)
