fluidyn-VENTUNNEL is a software of fluidyn-VENTIL family series, dedicated to ventilation simulations in tunnels, for health impact analysis (normal condition aeraulics or chronic dispersion) or for accidental scenarios. Based on a 3D-CFD solution, it computes redistribution of air flows in tunnels for the resolution of complex cases such as:
  • Internal air quality in train, road or marine tunnels as well as in internal underground stations (train, subways,...).
  • Pollutants propagation or fire and smoke accidental dispersion inside tunnels or underground stations.
  • Convective/radiative heat transfer along galeries, stations and for bulk flow.


Such aeraulic flow analysis takes into account several ventilation equipment systems, including:

  • Vertical natural convection and through tunnels heads as well as vertical natural ventilation, etc.
  • Forced vertical or horizontal longitudinal convection
  • Piston flows due to train motion
  • Entrained flow by car/truck continuous motion (friction momentum sources)

fluidyn-VENTUNNEL is integrated with several numerical tools and options for security and risk impact analysis in tunnels : obstacles disposal, source terms for accidental flows, numerical captors for smoke detection, temperature, pollutant/species concentrations, spray curtains, integral quantities computations, etc...

 

Technical features

fluidyn-VENTUNNEL includes, in default user version, specific options such as:

  • 3D Geometry generation, defining tunnel section shapes, curves, section change, stations, etc.
  • Single-phase or multi-phase Lagrangian models multi-species mixtures, upto 50 chemical species
  • Ventilation conditions set-up: blowers, extractors, or longitudinal/vertical forced accelerators
  • Transient ventilation inversion in accidental mode.
  • Natural ventilation
  • Point, line or volume source of pollutant, varying with time
  • Thermal sources : line, surface or volume source set-up (type of fire: wood, hydrocarbons, other flammable products...
  • Buoyancy models (natural convection), species transport and heat transfer
  • Advanced turbulence models such as defined in fluidyn-MP-NS CFD solver.
  • Takes into account specific boundary conditions at tunnel ends (external pressure + head losses)
  • Coupled with fluidyn-PANACHE for external boundary conditions computations in a specific area.


fluidyn-VENTUNNEL exists in following versions :

  • fluidyn-VENTUNNEL Rail for fluid flow, ventilation and dispersion in rail tunnels or underground stations (trains, RER, metro) with following specific features:
  1. takes into account the piston flow effect due to transient passage of trains in stations.

  1. takes into account flow due to road traffic (vehicles line flow) and corresponding entrained fluid flow,
